FAO supported two staff from the Bangladesh Ministry of Agriculture to increase their understanding of rural communication for development through a peer learning opportunity as part of the “Enhancing Rural Communication Services for Agricultural Development through Community Rural Radio”, TCP/BGD 3205. The staff from the Bangladesh government visited the College of Development Communication (CDC) at the University of Los Baños in the Philippines from May 22 to June 2, 2011. They spent time with Prof. Cleofe Torres, Dean of CDC and CSDI focal point for ASIA and Dr. Stella Tyrol. Their experience included lectures, expert’s talks, discussions, guided exercises as well as field visits and interactions with staff and listeners groups in selected agricultural institutions and rural radio stations. As lead practitioners in ComDev and RCS in Bangladesh, they will bring back to Bangladesh cutting edge developments in communication services and community rural radio. Their strengthened capacity in ComDev planning will support the implementation of the TCP project and enhance AIS activities in Bangladesh. |
